Strapi Cross-Environment Content Promotion Plugin (XECP)

One Content. Many Environments. Zero Surprises.

Strapi XECP Plugin

Born from teams that outgrew copy-paste between environments. Strapi Cross-Environment Content Promotion Plugin (XECP) delivers controlled, non-destructive content promotion — snapshots, schema validation, and RBAC — so the same reliable path serves a single project and an enterprise release train.

Sync, Not Import-Export

A unique promotion path — born from real delivery needs

Standard Strapi import-export copies data, but it does not protect work already done on the target environment. Strapi Cross-Environment Content Promotion Plugin (XECP) was shaped by teams that needed more: controlled, non-destructive promotion with deep schema awareness — scalable from a single project pipeline to enterprise release programs.

  • Content promotion between environments without data loss or version overwrites
  • RBAC-based responsibility split across the team
  • Snapshot mechanism for granular change comparison
  • Controlled, non-destructive promotion built on Strapi's native mechanisms
  • Content Schema consistency control — no promotion allowed when schemas don't match
  • It's sync, not import-export
Strapi Multi-Domain Plugin

Fully compatible with Strapi Multi Domain Plugin

Run XECP alongside the Strapi Multi Domain Plugin — promote content across environments in a multi-brand setup without sacrificing isolation or schema safety.

Built for Teams Growing Faster Than Their Processes

No More Copy-Paste Between Environments

The Strapi XECP Plugin is designed for teams where content is created on lower environments (dev, staging) and its path to production requires control, approval, and certainty that nothing breaks along the way. It eliminates manual data transfer, dramatically speeds up content teams' work, and enables fully custom review workflows — without the need to maintain and monitor multiple instances in parallel.

Snapshots That Give You Full Control

See Every Change Before You Approve It

Snapshots That Give You Full Control

Every promotion is built on content snapshots, letting you compare the source and target state down to a single field, relation, or dynamic zone component. Nothing happens silently in the background — your team sees exactly what will change before approving it. The built-in schema control mechanism further blocks promotion if the source and target environments don't share the same Content-Type structure, protecting against inconsistencies that are hardest to catch manually.

Built Around Real Content Workflows

Media, Relations, and Dynamic Zones — Fully Synced

Content in Strapi is rarely a simple set of text fields. The XECP Plugin synchronizes the full context of your content: Media Library, relations between Content-Types, and dynamic zones — so promoted content keeps its integrity, not just a surface-level copy of the data.

  • Strapi Media Library synchronization
  • Synchronization of relations between Content-Types
  • Synchronization of dynamic zones
  • RBAC — full control over who initiates and who approves a promotion
  • No interference with existing data — a fully non-destructive mechanism
RBAC — full control over who initiates and who approves a promotion

FAQ

Find quick answers to the most common questions about the Strapi XECP Plugin — from promotion workflows and schema safety to licensing and support.

What is the Strapi XECP Plugin used for?

It enables safe promotion of content between Strapi environments (e.g., dev → staging → production) without the risk of overwriting data or losing versions, thanks to a snapshot mechanism and schema consistency control.

How is XECP different from standard Strapi import/export?

Standard import-export overwrites data without any context of what already exists on the target environment. XECP works as a synchronization mechanism — it compares the source and target state at a granular level and promotes only the changes you've consciously approved.

Does the plugin sync media and relations?

Yes. XECP synchronizes the Strapi Media Library, relations between Content-Types, and dynamic zones, preserving the full integrity of promoted content.

What happens when environment schemas differ?

A built-in control mechanism blocks promotion if the source and target environments don't have the same Content Schema deployed — eliminating one of the most common and hardest-to-catch sources of error in multi-stage workflows.

What's the difference between "Environments" and "Target Environments"?

"Environments" sets the maximum number of environments your license covers within a single project — the overall size of your environment setup (e.g. dev, test, staging, uat, production counted together). This is unlimited on every plan.

"Target Environments" is a different dimension: it defines how many environments can be configured as promotion targets from a single source environment within one running plugin instance. On Essential, each source connects to a single target — for example dev → staging and staging → production, configured as separate single-target links. On Boost and Enterprise, a single source can fan out to multiple targets at once — for example test → sit, staging, uat simultaneously, with uat → production as the next step in the chain.

How does RBAC work in XECP?

Roles and permissions let you split responsibilities across the team — for example, who can initiate a promotion versus who approves it — without granting full administrative access to every team member.

Is there a free trial available?

Yes. We offer a 14-day free trial to explore all premium features and verify compatibility with your Strapi project. Get in touch to activate it.

What's the difference between Essential, Boost, and Enterprise?

Essential covers unlimited content promotion and the snapshot mechanism, with a single target environment per promotion — ideal for teams running a straightforward, single-path promotion flow.

Boost (coming soon) adds visual diff, queued promotions, and scheduled/automatic promotions, along with support for multiple target environments in one operation.

Enterprise includes everything planned for Boost, plus a dedicated Support Engineer, custom SLAs, priority roadmap input, and included migration assistance between Strapi major releases — priced individually for your setup.

Do you offer custom pricing?

Yes. We prepare personalized pricing plans within the Enterprise package, based on your organization's size, project scope, and support needs. Contact us and we'll put together a dedicated proposal.

Is it safe for existing data?

Yes. The promotion mechanism is fully non-destructive — it's built on Strapi's native mechanisms and never overwrites or deletes data without the team's conscious approval.

Does XECP work with the Strapi Multi Domain Plugin?

Yes. The XECP Plugin fully cooperates with the Strapi Multi Domain Plugin — you can safely promote content across environments in a multi-domain setup while keeping data and schema consistency intact for every domain.

Mark Raymond, Strategic Partnerships Manager
StrapiClient since 2022

Sensinum was one of the Strapi Partners we considered asking for a deep audit of our new website, as we presumed that some misconfiguration or how we’re consuming the data might cause the issues we were facing. Their team proved the top expertise in the area, not only in Strapi but also in User Experience, NextJS, and SEO, by performing a deep and comprehensive audit of our solution. They identified the root causes of the organic traffic drop and proposed a set of solutions for our engineering team to implement. The outcome was far more detailed and touched a wider scope than even expected. Definitely would like to work with the Sensinum team again and use their expertise.
